I’ve been using WeMod (think Steam but for trainers/cheats) since it was released years ago. I was too poor to buy a sub to help the devs, but I contributed what I could.

Fast-forward to today, the app is full of ads and limits you to 2 hours before disabling itself unless you pay up. The enshitification is so far beyond the pale that I immediately uninstalled it and will never use it again.

I usually stick with CheatEngine. Sure, it can be a bit of a hassle to manually find addresses, but the speedhack also helps a lot

I tried this 2 or 3 years ago, and the entire process - from website to running program - screamed scam and malware. Amazingly it wasn’t, but damn, to make cheaters feel like the tools they use are suspicious and shady as hell is a low I didn’t know existed until that point. Did my money cheat, saved, and uninstalled.

Went back to saving tiny individual exe trainers for my older games. At least I don’t feel like I should put on a condom before I run the trainer.

Do you know of any repository of old trainer programs? They always tickled my fancy, even if it only was to play around in

I don’t; I’d usually get them from sites like Game Copy World, where they host savegames and no-CD exes too. Still want to scan stuff before running, but I remember that being a pretty good source in the 2000s.

It was my go-to place for no-cd cracks for many years. I’m amazed that the site still looks the same as it did in 2006

A pretty reliable source (also for new trainers) is flingtrainer.com (there is also wemod bullshit, but at least the individual trainers are still downloadable). Never had any problems with them, they also work reliably on Linux.

Apart from that, gamecopyworld is your friend.

I dont know if its still a thing but megagames used to have trainers.

Depending on what you want from your trainers. Like a Money or anything you can really see the number for. Running a program like ArtMoney or CheatEngine is very doable, and looks harder then it is. You can do it without seeing the actual numbers as hell its just a bit harder IMO.
