I’ve noticed that Americans have a different stereotype of trans women to Latinos.

In America they think of a man in a dress and a beard and colored hair, but that’s not the stereotype I’ve ever seen in Latin America, Latinos always think of a woman with huge boobs and butt, dolled up but with a comically deep voice and is likely to be a prostitute.

I don’t know where the American stereotype came from, but as a Latina sadly I can say our stereotype comes from the fact we’re forced to be hyper feminine and do sex work to even survive but you’ll still be at risk of being brutally assaulted.

In Europe (including UK, minus Russia) it’s usually the Latino-style, though not as exaggerated. In the west part it tends to be someone who looks neither man nor woman but dresses pretty femme.

In Russia it’s more the first one… due to discriminatory views perpetuated by that dictator.

That sounds more like the 70s stereotype (minus the butt).

The current negative stereotype is because people are challenging gender and other social norms.

In the US, we are more mean spirited and so, we stereotype groups that are “different” in demeaning ways. I’m a cis hetero white guy, but I’m also a socialist. We are thought of as effeminate, overeducated and overweight vegans who don’t enjoy anything.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure the way you’re thought of is demeaning to you also. To us it just feels different.

Honestly, the “I identify as an attack helicopter” and the “trans women are pretentious SJWs who are offended about everything” stereotypes feel quaint these days as the usual offenders have generally moved on to calling us child abusers and sexual predators in the U.S.

Well I wouldn’t say you are more mean spirited… Taking into account that Latino men can be extremely violent to trans women, I think Latin American countries are the leads of trans homicide to trans women. European men are no different tho, I’ve gotten into situations where a man is throwing an adult temper tantrum because I didn’t want to have sex with them in the first date because in their mind I’m the lowest he could have gone for and I should be grateful for his dick 💀
