Apple always does this before a big launch. Most likely they are applying site updates, major patches, etc.

Side note: thanks to Apple Card changes, this is the first phone I won’t be preordering.

Hold up, what Apple Card changes?

Edit: I searched and found out Goldman Sachs wants to end partnership with Apple due to losing money.

If you make payments over time (0% interest) they now require you to select a carrier. This means you get charged an activation fee for activating tje new device. It also means you can’t use that option if your carrier is not Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.

Yeah, think I’ll pass on doubling my wireless bill to get the same service, but thanks, Apple.

Launch time is 8AM EST. You think Apple can’t have the “updates” ready well before? Lmao that’s not an excuse.

I was able to get on order in via mobile app and a couple more via web. It took 30min of refreshing; longer than the usual 5min.

    Good luck

It took me about 15 minutes to get in on the app, but it couldn’t load my info. 5 minutes later I finally got through on the website and ordered without issue. It was frustrating because it’s normally, like you said, only about 5 minutes.

I’ve been sitting here on my iPhone 8 waiting for like 8 months figuring the next would be usb c. Glad it worked out so I’m excited. Too bad it’s still a month out now with the shipping wait times on preorder.

I was probably going to trade in my 13 pro max, mostly to import off my CF drive at the end of hikes with my camera, but they got rid of the Apple Card monthly payments unless you let yourself be robbed blind by one of the main carriers, and I’m annoyed enough by that that I didn’t pull the trigger.

It’s not like it really matters and I could have just paid and been done with it, but it irritated me enough not to.
