Bug report:
Logging in to perchance.org works fine with my (new, reset) password, but when I make any change in the editor and hit save, it asks me to re-enter my password, and the SAME password I just logged in with is rejected.
Affects BOTH of my generators and BOTH of my browser profiles. Not browser-specific.
Timeline:
- Started when saving gave a warning that the generator was “open in 2 other tabs” (it wasn’t).
- Then the editor failed to load with “There was a problem while loading this generator… please try reloading the page” on both profiles and both generators.
- Logged out to try to fix it; login then failed with my old password.
- Reset the password (several times — repeating the same new value).
- Now: login with the new password works, but the editor’s save step asks for the password again and rejects the exact same string.
What I’ve tried:
- Multiple password resets (same value each time)
- Hard reloads, logging out and back in
- Both browser profiles behave identically
- Tried in a private window
The generator code itself is fine (both generators load and render correctly, and their sources are retrievable via the API). This looks like an auth/session issue on the account side — the save step seems to be validating against a stale/older password hash than the login step.
Account email on file is the one I’m using. I can share the account details privately on request. Happy to provide any additional info. (This Bug Report was written by Editor Help)
