Reddit has a feature where you can hide a post on upvote or downvote to ensure that youre always seeing content that you never saw before. Does lemmy have that feature?
Interesting issue; I use Voyager app, because there I can swipe away posts, and then they are hidden from me. I really miss this bad in Piefed-Web-UI, so I rarely use it.
For me, it is a must-feature that I can follow this kind of inbox-zero-workflow.
Now I know that it is possible in PieFed too, with the described options (see other comments). It seems to me, though, that up-/downvoting only to make the post hidden is not the ideal way (although it works for the individual user). Opening it to hide it is also not perfect; several interactions instead of one (like in Voyager), and maybe I do not want it to disappear after reading. Maybe I also want to vote but still keep it visible. Voyagers approach is best, it seems to me.
It would be great if, in Lemmy and PieFed Web, there was an efficient way to hide - independent of voting or reading. Maybe there is - and I don’t know it?!
(PS. : I just saw that this community here is dedicated to the lemmy.world-instance - not to lemmy-software or even PieFed. I hope it is okay to bring about this topic, here, anyway.)
Yes there is a way, please see https://piefed.social/c/[email protected]/p/2262951/hide-mark-a-post-as-read-without-voting-on-it
If you uncheck the following option in your settings:

It’ll hide posts you vote on. (I assume voting marks them as read on the Lemmy side of things)
Piefed has that, it’s convenient: “Do not display posts with which I have already interacted (opened/upvoted/downvoted)”
piefed has that and now it also has a neutral read icon that actually looks like a naught so delete but it basically marks it as read for people that choose the settings to not show read posts. This came up because they instituted a daily limit on voting. Before that I use to upvote everything to clear it from my feed when I refreshed. An interesting thing is with upvoting I did not do this but with the read button I suddenly realized with cat and owl and anim pictures and such I can not mark them read and then when I refresh they are in my feed to both let me know I caught up to where I was before and just make a nice little group of nice pictures to see.
