“We’re not going to wreck the economy. The truth is we are going to wreck the billionaire economy,” said UAW President Shawn Fain.

And it didn’t take long before they started to feel the effects of the strike. “When did the strike begin” some may be asking. Fucking yesterday.

These clowns are rapidly learning how much they depend upon us to keep their dragon hoards stocked. And it’s because a large enough fraction of us has started to learn it in the first place. If they weren’t so fucking greedy to take more and more, we might’ve been complacent enough to not start looking more closely. It’s the Netflix price hikes, but for stagnant wages and increased cost of living.

I hope for a short strike in which the corporate overlords immediately cave to all the workers demands.

That’s the thing. The more reasonable ones back off a little and make some changes before it comes to a strike. The ones that let it go to a strike are the unreasonable ones. That’s why you basically mostly have no strike or long strikes.

Just a reminder that the big three used the 2007-2008 financial crisis as an excuse to screw over their employees while GM and Chrysler both received tax payer funded bailouts.

I’m really really hoping they get their 4 day weeks so that it can spread to the IBEW and the other trades and then everyone.

Good for them. It’s about time the workers of America get what they deserve, rewarding jobs and a living wage.

Automakers laid off hundreds of innocent workers in retaliation for this strike. UAW should make this huuuurrrt. I hope UAW makes history by eating these motherfuckers alive.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The most ambitious U.S. industrial labor action in decades has halted production at three plants producing the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler and Chevrolet Colorado, along with other popular models.

At a rally on Friday afternoon and at picket lines during the day, union members protested loudly and took special aim at a two-tiered wage system that left new hires without the pay or benefits of seasoned hands.

The union is demanding a bigger share of profits, shorter work weeks, restoration of defined benefit pensions and stronger job security as automakers shift to electric vehicles.

None of the Detroit Three has proposed eliminating those tiered wage systems, a key UAW demand, but they have offered to cut the time needed to reach top pay to four from eight years.

Biden on Friday said acting Labor Secretary Julie Su and adviser Gene Sperling will travel to Detroit to offer support for talks but the White House said they would not mediate.

Nearly half the 12,700 striking workers are at the Stellantis plant, although management has been preparing: a parking lot of finished Jeeps is more than a mile long outside the factory.
