I’ve always been a rif user on Reddit, never tried out sync. But now I probably will since it’s a professional level app for lemmy. Experienced sync users, what should I know?

Only thing to know now is install the free version of sync for reddit. The dev will update it with a splash screen sometime this weekend with instructions on how to move to Lemmy. Also, I would lower your expectations. The first version released is very likely to be a bare bones test build. It will take time to get as polished and feature rich as Sync for Reddit is. Jerboa for Android is likely to remain the best option until other apps like Sync have time to catch up.

I find Jerboa better, smoother interactions, more configurable. Thunder is getting there, and has Sync style swiping now.

I downloaded it yesterday to give it a shot! It’s pretty good but I have muscle memory already with jerboa. Also I cant seem to get the subscription feed to work, only local and all

It’s an issue with the All VS Instance subscribed feed. Check for the new version, the dev fixed that.

That’s weird. I have tried that yet, so far I’ve only posted to Lemmy.world.

In general all the apps need work. They are very much still beta. So what I do is mix my usage between web and apps.

Liftoff has a lot of issues or missing features right now. It definitely has potential, but it’s not the top of my app list yet.

Yes that’s true. They are all pretty limited ATM. I’m typing this in the web app as it’s the most reliable

Yeah that’s where I do most stuff, too. The devs just need a little more time.

I hate to have to say this, but Jerboa isn’t good. I can’t even say it’s a step up from just using a mobile browser, because at least a browser doesn’t crash.

Jerboa now keeps telling me that lemmy.world is outdated and some of the features stopped working. That’s just not a worthwhile upgrade from using a browser right now.

I am running a patched version of Jerboa right now, think it was a fork on the github project. Unfortunately lemmyworld is having problems getting the update in place. Very alpha experience right now but I imagine things will start ramping up.

I have. It’s quite nice so far and has Sync-link features and gestures. The dev told me they’re a fan of Sync.

Longtime sync user, it’s great. Feature packed and actually uses native components. It’s essentially the Apollo of Android.

    In my opinion it’s a 10/10.

I was also a rif user. I am looking forward to a good app for lemmy.
