trails series is so slept on, and I get why. it just looks like anime nonsense.

But man you play one of them and it gets your hooks in, Feels like everyone has the same story of “i played one then i played the other ten games in a year because I can’t play anything else”

Best analogy I’ve come across is that it’s like an MCU of JRPGs. I’m experiencing it for the first time now, and playing by order of release. While Sky FC was something I kind of had to force myself through, the revelations in final chapter of that game was enough to hook me right into SC without wasting any time. Zero & Azure was announced and launched while I was playing Sky SC (had to skip 3rd due to lack of access -something I’m not too happy about), and now that I’ve just wrapped Azure up (last night), with Cold Steel 1 already installed on my PS5, we get news that Cold Steel III & IV are to be sold as a bundle! Lucky me!

I convinced myself to start the series simply because so many people like yourself have talked about how under-appreciated it is, and I am so glad I did. Pushing myself into this series (with low expectations) has been one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I’ve had so far. I hope the Sky trilogy gets bundled and re-released on modern platforms with some updates to the combat system to bring it more on par with the Zero & Azure. I think everyone should start there.

I played one and two… but it is just too much for me. I just could not commit to all that reading and backstory but I love to see the passion the community has for it and the developers give it.
