Anybody using an Apple Watch to track their activity?
I am not sure how accurate it is, but I feel good closing my rings.
It’s surprisingly accurate. Distance is very accurate, in my experience. It’s not exactly perfect auto detecting the activity I’m doing, but it tries (it frequently thinks I’m doing an eliptical workout when I’m walking fast).
I use mine for tracking distance, along with the Nike running app, and some other apps for other health things (like heart rate, migraines, etc).
I can say that the heart rate is spot on. I was in the ER woth a heart monitor on for a few hours, and the watch was always +/- 2bpm.
It’s biggest downfall is that you can’t set your own heart rate thresholds imo. I have a comedically low heart rate, so I have to be pushing myself harder than most people for it to auto detect activities.
Is it able to get notifications from your phone?
Yes, it can. Its very annoying as so far i couldnt find an option to filter out notifications to be ONLY on the phone.
You will be pleased to know that Apple watches are some of the best health/fitness trackers out there. In fact, they’re the only consistently best all-rounders.
For peace of mind, check this fellow out. In my humble opinion, quite underrated for the quality of content he puts out, he reviews smartwatches and fitness bands like no other. At least as far as I’m aware. https://www.youtube.com/@TheQuantifiedScientist
His reviews helped me settle on the AW 8. Sometimes, I wish this thing cooperated with Android phones too though. Android arena doesn’t have any watch that perform as well across the board as Apple watches do. The Huawei come close, but they lag Apple in sleep tracking.
Neat! Thanks for the link I will dive in—Love that kind of content.
I was wondering what the interaction is like between the Watch and Android. What works/doesn’t work?
Heh. Basically nothing works with Android, unfortunately. You can’t pair the watch with an Android phone to begin with. Without an iPhone, you might have to use it as a standalone watch, with no way to receive your health data in your phone.
I use it for sport and sleep tracking. Turned off most app notifications since they got annoying fast. I wish it had better battery life though.
Yeah me too I hate the notifications. I turned them off.
