Lately I’ve seen some… Questionable ads, to say the least. Is there no way to report these ads on sync?

If there is, am I just dumb and blind? Or is it easier than it seems?

It feels like early Reddit all over again to me, hopefully I’m wrong

For context, Android user, been here a few months, and I opt out of everything that’s easy/simple/apparent to opt out of

All ads are questionable, are privacy and security risk and should be blocked by default. On android I can recommend AdGuard.

There is an ad removal purchase for 19.99 I think?

Not what I’m looking for, but thank you for your comment!

Ah, I see on a 2nd read. Not removing ads all together, just reporting the “bad” ones so you don’t see them.

I have similar issues with Youtube ads when my kids watch. I’m fine with ads for candy bars and Mr.Beast, I don’t need Evony over here showing some tied up girl being handled by a big green orc in a provocative way.

Newpipe can help with that, no ads when watching videos.

Are you speaking on posts on Lemmy that are ads? Or the ads within sync? I’m sure those questionable ones are the most profitable for the developer and they would have to drop whoever they’re using to distribute ads.

Number one thing about Lemmy is there’s no ads no tracking, etc. Blows my mind that people come over here and deal with them.

Look what community this post is in. OP is asking about their particular app.

Not really sure about that after reading the reply. I know what community I’m in. I even used the app name in my reply.

Wait, am I misunderstanding, or are you suggesting that it blows your mind that people are dealing with ads on this website?

… On the website you’re commenting on?

There are no ads on lemmy. If you’re getting ads they’re coming directly from the app you’re using. So yeah, it blows their mind that people are dealing with ads on an ad free platform. It blows my mind too.

This is the Lemmy community for the app they are using, and it’s an ad-suppoted app (unless paid to remove them). The context here should be obvious - they are asking the dev/users of the app how to report ads.

The website isn’t serving you the ads. SYNC ,the app you love, is serving you those ads. That’s all I was trying to get across. I don’t want people thinking Lemmy is the Reddit app/website. There are no ads.

I’m posting this on Sync for lemme, and I never insinuated I loved it. There’s no reason to be rude.

Never seen any adds. Switch to Thunder, you won’t either.

Look for the ℹ️ button in the ad, or some form of informational button that will bring up more options without actually opening the ad.

That should give you some options to work with.
