The founder of the former Silk Road online black market, Ross Ulbricht, marked 10 years behind bars after he was given a double life sentence by United States authorities in 2013.

On Oct. 2 Ulbricht posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he has already spent a full decade in prison and fears he will spend the remainder of his life “behind concrete walls and locked doors.” He said all he can do now is “pray for mercy.”

If you had just not hired the hit man, you’d be singing a much different tune.

I thought they were accusations and he wasn’t held accountable for that stuff, or am I misinformed about the situation?

That’s my understanding as well. It might have been speculation at the time and it’s been a long time so my memory may not be right, but I seem to remember those charges not sticking because the feds pushed him towards trying to hire their own operative to do the deed. Made for some great pearl clutching when they made the arrest, but they knew it wouldn’t stick.

The charges didn’t stick, doesn’t mean he didn’t try and hire a hitman
