Saw this community pop up on my feed and remembered these neat little guys that popped up in my yard a couple months back so I thought I’d share.

I was pretty sad when the guy who mows our lawn murdered them. They were pretty big! Seemed to practically pop up overnight too!

Well, you can rest assured that a double murder did not actually occur. What actually happened is that your lawn guy helped to spread billions of babies around the neighborhood.

While this pair probably did meet an exceptionally violent end, the fruit likely performed its function with a much higher degree of bonus efficiency.

I hope I was able to turn that frown upside down!

      Mushrooms, mushrooms everywhere!

We get a fair amount in our yard from time to time - I think due to the old stump that used to be there. It’s mostly gone now.

These have just been the biggest ones I’ve seen so far not to mention they were a decent way away from the stump so they stood out to me.

Looks like chlorophyllum molybdites. If you find anymore check the underside for a green tint or take a spore print and it should have green spores.

I’ll give that a try! I’ve never taken a spore print before.

Is there any way to preserve a spore print once you have one on paper? I feel like that could look pretty neat to make the spore print, write down the ID, date and location it was found for a neat sort of artwork/learning tool.

As long as you don’t touch it much it won’t go away, maybe laminate it? Idk Ive never tried

They will probably pop back up after a little rain. It’s always amazing how fast mushrooms can form
