Background: When replying to a post created on mastodon/kbin/etc, you may get the eternal spinng wheel if you don’t specify the language for your comment reply.
Question: Is there a way of seeing at a glance where the comment originated from, to thus know if you need to specify a language?
Thanks!
Yes, if you check this community on kbin: https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected], at a glance - on the top-left part of the screen right under the logo, you’ll see it says [email protected] - community hosted on lemmy.world won’t have the @somename part.
Same for users, if for example you go to https://lemmy.world/c/world, the community is hosted on lemmy.world, scroll down and check the names of those creating threads, if you see only a name it means the user is on lemmy.world, if you see user@something, the user is from another instance/platform.
It’s not always easy to tell which platform they are from if it’s something you don’t know, just very easy to tell they’re outside of lemmy.world.
Oh, yeah, I see what you mean.
It’s odd as when I was browsing and couldn’t reply to a comment unless I specified the language I couldn’t see the user from from outside lemmy as you describe.
