I could almost see this being done on purpose to highlight the necessity of taking their courses seriously. It’d be a bold move that hinges on the intelligence of people viewing the sign, though.
It wasn’t originally planned like that, but when they were redoing it for an addition, the contractors asked if they wanted the letters respaced and the dean was like, “No, just stick it on the wall because it will look funny.”
It’s either a shitty botch-job by those who should’ve known better, or a masterpiece in subversion…
Not sure I’d want to risk my reputation as a college on a joke that could backfire so stupidly and easily haha
I mean, it’s 100% on purpose or a doctored image.
It was done like that on purpose:

https://www.arch2o.com/story-behind-college-architecture-planning-sign/
It was a loading dock that had some work done, but the sign apparently isn’t even there anymore:
When asked if he wanted to re-space the letters of the sign to make it look good, he replied: “No, just stick it on the wall because it will look funny.”
This is peak architect humor right here
Two jobs: architecture and planning.
At least one job too many (depending on the state of the building as a whole)
Perfection
I think that’s an amazing self-ironic design! 100% sends a smile to first time visitors while also delivering a nice little message to underline the importance of the topic.
