In xfce (thunar) i see window where i enter the root password and can use the ssd

What I did instead (unrelated to Wayland) is installing udiskie and let udisks2 handle all the mounting. I just plug in the device and it gets automatically mounted in user context without me having to provide any passwords or whatsoever.

I installed and added in autostart polkit-kde-agent
Now I can use ssd in Hyprland
Maybe in the future I will try your method with udiskie and udisks2
