Works 100% of the time for me. So far, anyway.

I keep using youtube with ublock out of spite. I have a local copy of invidious running and all my subscriptions are copied over. I know it’s more private and I won’t have to keep jumping though hoops, but I just want to defeat Google’s ad block blocker as long as I can.

It manually updates the list used to block the ad elements. The adblock devs are battling Google as Google is changing the elements to make the lists obsolete, hence why sometimes manual update is needed even with auto-update enabled.

Also, if you have the Enhancer for YouTube extension, make sure the adblock option is turned off.

I’m not getting ads but did get the adblocker pop-up for the first time today, and a few hours saw Rossmann published a video about the adblocker fight. Now I see this post. Did something happen today specifically?

Me too. Like 45 minutes after his video went up, I started getting the pop-up.

No ads, but the pop up comes up every few videos.

I started getting the popup a few days ago every few videos, then it started having a little timer that went for 5 seconds or so before the X appeared, and last night it switched to “you can only watch 3 more videos”. Bye bye Youtube.

strange, I swear I tried this 2 days ago, and then it didnt work.

so today, I tried my best to do a “hard reset” by resetting uBlock to defaults, then uninstalling it, and then installing it fresh and following this “guide”.

I still get the pop-up. Not sure if they’ve already been hot-fixing the work arounds?
