The bigger problem is that this game even had a battle pass and other monetization tactics at all.

Early Access games should never have a battle pass or cash item shop.

True, but a lot of people never listen to the fact that they fucked up and they should do something about it. That fact alone deserves some kudos.

Yeah that’s right! Games like stardew valley, factorio, Terraria, Binding of Isaac, Hades and others could really learn from those brave heroes and finally remove the Battle pass and all the other payed content!

    Edit: /s… Duh!

      Yep.

Pcgamesn as a website is pretty bottom of the barrel of gaming sites. And most indie games in general don’t have any monetization either, yet no story for them.

Good change, obviously. Monetizing cosmetics in this game has always struck me as odd. The game’s not ugly, but it’s not pretty enough to sell skins in my opinion.

If anyone’s curious about the gameplay, Monster Train is a favorite deck builder of mine and Inkbound topped my list of games I was excited about. It exceeded my hopes and expectations and I can’t think of anything else in the co-op space that comes close to the level of coordination and build variety found here. Great 1p as well and it’s progressing beautifully in early access with some excellent redesigns on various systems and new classes.

I’m not gonna lie, if everything is 1-5 dollars in the shop I dont care. Its when its in Alpha, has serious issues, and missing features, as well as having a microtransaction shop with 20+ dollar items that I get upset. Shit, even polished games like Destiny have predatory pricing. Digital items never have any real value, paying 30 bucks for armor skinz is deranged.
