According to numbers released by Statistics Canada on Tuesday, inflation dropped to 3.8 per cent after reaching four per cent in August.

The federal agency says grocery prices continue to rise, but the pace of growth fell to 5.8 per cent in September, down from 6.9 per cent in August.

Color me surprised that the government assigned inflationary numbers aren’t actually keeping up with food prices. It’s almost like Canada doesn’t want to admit that inflation has really hit us in an effort to keep wages suppressed. We’ve been in annual double digits for the past two years.

Oh I’m sick of hearing this shit, because it’s a problem that affects the poorest the most, and nothing is being done to stop it.

When it was greed, nothing, now that it’s “out of control”, nothing.

    Fucking do something.

I’ll tell you what should have been done years ago when the bread price fixing happened, take away powers from grocery chains that don’t follow the rules. What they had was a slap on the wrist “cost of doing business”, what they should have gotten was a massive red line on their yearly item lines: pay to the order of “the government of Canada” for setting up better watchdog services to keep this from happening again.

Then cap their inflation, capitalism be damned. They complain? Ok we’ll buy parts of the grocery supply line. We’re already supplementing farmers, why not make supply chains and possibly cash and carries crown corps?

I really wish we could get someone (like say the NDP) federally to push through buying really anything that touches Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs: Rents too high? Government buys housing/lower max rental costs per sq/foot or whatever. Grocery stores inflating prices? Set prices, buy em out if they cry about it.

But we’re getting a Conservative government looks like so get ready for things to get way worse.
