    Dead on arrival.

Aside from being an Ubisoft game, Extraction shooters are literally one of the worst genre trends in gaming lately. I suppose they wouldn’t be so bad if they all weren’t PvPvE “full loot” extraction shooters. But since they are, they attract the worst kind of scum players that bully new people and then complain when nobody is playing.

    When will executives learn?

Why is everyone doing extraction shooters now? Are they really that great? I only played escape of Tarkov for a bit but I couldn’t get into it.

It’s the tail end of the latest hotness, the last one was battle royal, the one before was needlessly large, mostly dead and empty open worlds.

Tarkov is a place where people discover they are actual masochists. The learning curve is near asymptotic, especially if you start mid or late in one of the economy “wipe” cycles. The cheater issues they have make it 10x worse than it should be though.

They can try, but nothing is going to beat Hunt: Showdown. Especially something coming in late to the game to only steal some revenue.

I think more multiplayer games should try a DayZ type of experience with (relatively) clean screen, extreme resource scarcity, etc. Of course within a few months someone will always mod it into CS:GO plus Minecraft.

Yeah, first battle royale, then this, also mandatory crafting sprinkled with cosmetic micro transactions, like emotes, dances, clothing etc.
