Both beautiful and beautifully stitched, if that is the correct word?

Is this supposed to be a blue guy with a sweet back tattoo sitting in his underwear?

I’m conflicted. The craft is great, but what a strange thing to stitch! I don’t even find it beautiful. I think I need some explanation to be able to appreciate this.
