I’ve hit a point where all the weapons I have have too low damage. I need to find better base parts. Decayed royal weapons are no longer as good as they used to.
Where can I get a good base weapon that is not the biggoron sword?
For the record, I know royal guard has good damage but I need something that lasts more than 3 hits
If you haven’t travelled to Gerudo Valley yet it is worth popping over there.
The gerudo weapons, though they don’t have a huge base, have a multiplier to whatever they are fused to do you can get large overall damage with minimal fusion, and without the duration limitation of the Royal weapons.
I should go to the gerudo area. Only part I haven’t somewhat explored
Pristine weapons in the depths. If you don’t like the bonus roll then just drop it and come back next blood moon to see if the weapon/roll is better. If the weapon is good, but not the roll then you can take it to a Rock Ocktorok to suck up and reroll a bonus roll. They also repair weapons. Make sure you pick up the pristine weapons and drop them or else they won’t change in the depths.
Gerudo weapons give bonus fuses.
I heard forrest dweller weapons are good to fuse plant stuff like puffshrooms, fire fruit, muddlebud. It’s supposed to make you hot multiple times on the weapon without coming off.
If you have a construct weapon make sure you fuse it with a construct part. Those rollers after you kill the big block mini bosses work well. There are bonuses in this game that is eluded to in some item descriptions.
They don’t seem to like repairing my bad ass zora trident. I even did suggestions like fusing other shit weapons to it but it didn’t work.
Don’t fuse shit weapons to your Zora trident for repairs. Fuse your Zora trident to other weapons then repair (Rock Ocktorok). Then break the Zora trident off using the Tarrey Town break it down.
Then you can start the cycle anew but fusing something to the Zora trident until you get a weapon is damaged message.
Which weapon do you recommend because I’ve tried a lot of them already and it doesn’t heal the weapon.
Maybe it got patched? I’m not sure, if it isn’t working. I can’t try it on my guy, so idk.
I’m wondering that too… I’m watching videos of people doing it like it’s nothing… and I’m struggling to get it to work.
To be honest I never once thought about my base weapons. Just picked up whatever and fused strong stuff to it. Enemies always felt like they were melting throughout the whole game
Ditto - the base weapon doesn’t seem to matter too much, rather what you choose for the fused item makes the difference.
tbh I’ve found the opposite approach to be a lot more successful- the base weapon doesn’t matter as much as the monster parts I use. Once you start getting a couple of silver bokoblin horns to fuse with, the weapons system “experience”, so to speak, improved a ton. The higher-level monsters become a bit easier to tackle, so it becomes a positive feedback loop after that for better monster parts.
Have you tried throwing weapons to Rock Octoroks?
The ones in eldin? No I haven’t. I haven’t got to the danger part of eldin yet.
Commenting to follow the discussion. Hopefully someone has good advice.
Im still in early game. Best weapons ive found are boko arms which do 20 dmg and have really low durability…
You got of the sky island? If not I’d recommend you leave this thread, wouldn’t want to spoil the game
I did the first regional phenomenon, and then started exploring depths. I found an armored lynel, and teied him with my shit weapons. after dying 20 times i realised Sword plus spiked metal ball does well against armored enemies…
Havent found anything with base dmg unfused more than 20…
I started the zora one. Not finished yet. But I did the second koga fight. That combined with white lynels made me notice I need more damage
I ran into a flux construct in the deapths. My weapons did very little damage to it. Idk if theres a certain type of weapon that works better for them or not …
You gotta hit the glowing cube
Yeah. I unfused it till he was split up. My weapons damaged the glowing cube very slowly…
What variant was it and what weapons
Base points aren’t what matter. From an endgame player, I use zora weapons (~12 dmg base I think) and fuse them with silver lynel horns, which are worth 55 and carry the weapons.
The most important part of using weapons is knowing their modifiers. With Zora weapons (Water Warrior), the weapon doubles in damage if link is near water or wet (throwing chuchu or other stuff works for that), bringing damage up to the 120s or so.
In conclusion, the totk system is not about strong damage base items, but instead making use of the item’s properties and fusing strong items to your weapons. It may be easier for you to always be at 1 heart for knights weapons, for example, or maybe you dodge a lot and therefore prefer royal weapons. And if all else fails, don’t forget your damage boosting armors too.
From an endgame perspective would you say the gloom weapons are good till I can beat silver and white lynels?
I’ve had pretty good luck with the gloom weapons if you have a few extra hearts to spare. they have high damage, especially if you fuse something decent to them and they only take away a few hearts from my experience, and if you are above ground the hearts don’t stay gloomed. Probably not the best in the long run, but not bad.
I use gloom stuff as the fused attachment. Biggoron sword + gloom club is coom
Do you still get gloomed?
Buy (or clone) a couple of Amiibos and you’ll get some decent weapon drops every day.
How do you clone amiibo. I only have the shulk one and its drops are shit
Buy some cheap nfc tags and you can use an Android phone with Tagmo to write Amiibos to them. Can get like 50 “Amiibos” for $15 that way. It’s possible to do it with an iPhone, but more difficult/expensive as all things tend to be on iPhone.
Alternatively, spend $200 on a Flipper Zero and you can emulate all amiibos whenever you want, plus open Tesla charge doors.
in the depths are these “rock stack” features with a blue ghostly figure atop them holding a weapon. these are fairly common.
this weapon is not decayed, so it lasts longer and frequently has some bonus like extra durability or throw damage.
they “restock” each blood moon I think, so you can stamp their locations on your map once you find them to revisit again later.
if you happen to see one of the flying dragons near a tower, you can land on them and take the little shards from their spikes. these are really powerful for fusing to weapons early game and are pretty easy to get.
Currently I’m loving zora weapons. Just splash some water and suddenly a 72 weapon turns into 103. It’s crazy.
I’d suggest exploring the

Underground.
You’ll find non-degraded weapons there.
Scimitar of the seven.
It doubles the power of what’s attached to it. So combine that with a Molduga jaw while wearing evil spirit armor and eat a +3 attack up meal, and…let’s just say you do a lot of damage.
I think options better than royal weapons are pretty limited. You can find undecayed knight weapons in some areas of the depths which are decent. But it’s mostly about what you fuse to them. Mighty zonaite weapons can also be OK if you fuse powerful zonaite things to them, like the flux core 3 or captain IV horn.
You can also try to get tricky with special effects, like using the zora weapons and splash fruit, or getting armor with bone proficiency and fusing a bone.
That said I haven’t finished the game yet so there may be more I haven’t discovered yet!
Where van I get a cap 4 horn. I heard of something late game sounding called the gloom sword, am I aiming too high? I need something with a base better than 20
Captain construct 4 drops them. If you kill enough monsters they will evolve into those. Or I heard there might be one or two on the islands leading up to the water temple.
I think gloom sword has the best attack power in the game but it also afflicts you with gloom when you hit stuff with it. It can have some niche uses but I wouldn’t make it my main weapon. Also you have to kill phantom ganon to get it so depends how you feel about that.
I killed a phantom ganon but I need more hearts to properly use the gloom stuff
One thing you can do is use the weapon while riding a lynel. Those don’t count as real hits and don’t drain hearts but they still do damage.
I was using undecayed royal guard gear for awhile. A real pain to find but if you have the time they are down there somewhere. And they often don’t move too far from wherever you find them. I could never actually find a royal guard claymore but the broadsword is usually under the Gerudo highlands. I occasionally found the the spear on the outskirts of the area under death mountain
I found a more consistent option was the undecayed Gerudo claymore. Pretty easy to find one or 2 near Mines under the city.
Spears/halberds have better DPS than greatswords. I like using halberds for this reason even if an individual hit is lower dmg
