What a clickbait title. They’ll still be making horror, but targeting a bigger audience, rather than their fairly niche pieces from earlier in their time. How exactly that constitutes being “done” with “psychological horror” I have no fucking clue.

“Silent Hill 2 will be the first title out of Bloober Team 3.0, the studio focused on action-first, mass-market horror games.”

That sounds terrible. I was wary of them being behind the remake, but now I’m actually dreading it.

They didn’t hit mainstream success with their previous titles and got restructured. It happens. If you liked their previous work then I wouldn’t hold out a lot of hope for their next games moving forward. SH2R is looking less and less promising.

Anyone else really worried about the silent hill 2 remake?

My heart sank when I saw bloober team was making it. It’s not that they’re a terrible studio or anything, it’s just that their past works have lacked subtlety and complexity, two things you really need in a (good) silent hill game

I honestly have no doubts. The Medium was fantastic, and showed they can do much larger and more complex projects than what they started off with in Layers of Fear and Observer.

Didn’t like The Medium. Like I understand the concept they were going for it’s just that the execution was sub par. And I agree with you, it lacked subtlety and complexity in characters and important story points. I Don’t have terribly high hopes for the Remake, but I don’t think it’ll be a huge failure either.
