the website formerly known as Twitter.

Every time a journalist refuses to acknowledge the idiotic name change is another little hit of dopamine.

Given their choice of logo, I am advocating for everyone to start referring to it as Twitter/X11.

Isn’t the logo just a unicode character? The X in X.Org is 2 seperate pieces that bend away from each other at the center.

X also a terrible search term. Searching for an article with the word Twitter in it should work a lot better.

I could make one for the uk, if you think there would be a userbase for it.

Wouldn’t want to make money from it.

I would very much talk with a lawyer first.

These kinds of things crop up every few years and either become dens of racism or get sued to oblivion. And the UK has some pretty hefty libel laws

What if it was hosted in another country and set up through a shell company, like these large companies like to hide behind?

I will seek legal advice first but just thinking out loud I guess.

Read the history of the Pirate Bay. That should give you some ideas how to make a site that is reasonably resistant to laws and governments.

Not to be a crypto-bro, but if you bought a domain and hosting from, say njal.la or incognet using Monero and you only connected to your hosts to SSH/FTP behind a good VPN, there’s not much anyone could do to discover who you are.

I’ll keep that in mind when ready to launch. Currently just putting together a prototype.

Are you Jordie van den Berg? Cool name btw. Very German. Reminded me of Paul van Dyk. Why haven’t you created one for Germany? Are you a German in Australia?

With respect to building on efor the UK - I think it’d be popular in the UK. We’ve got more people renting now and house prices are becomign impossible for people to get. We also have a lot of MPs who are landlords so a database like this would highlight conflicts of interest! For example the current Tory government announced protections for tenants by removing no-fault evictions. Homelessness went through the roof as landlords stated evicting people before the law came out. Those that managed to hang on had their rents increased by huge amounts. (e.g. mine went £625-£750).

The government have yet to implement it. Some papers highlighted a hefty number of current Tory MPs are landlords who profited from the rent increase following the announcement.

The more I think about it the more I think this would be popular in a lot of countries as houses becoming a luxury/investment isn’t unique to Aus and the UK.

I am not that person. Just a random uk resident happy to build something similar if enough people would benefit from it.

Just happy to share my skills and not looking to make it profitable in any way. Just a simple service for people to check existing properties or to add theirs.

              Fell asleep super early yesterday.

Had a car crash so think was a bit shook. Would normally be getting ready for work but I’ve taken the day off to sort insurance out.

When do you usually sleep then?

Jordie van den Berg seems to be of Dutch descent. In the 50s thousands of Dutch people emigrated there.
