I don’t think Scorn belongs on any Lovecraft lists. Its main influence is pretty direct, namely H. R. Giger.

Yea, body horror and cosmic horror are quite distinctly different, too.

Gonna add SOMA into the mix. That game was intensely Lovecraftian. Hopelessness of man, hyper powerful monsters that cannot be killed, psychological terror, body horror, great shit.

Big bump for Sundered if you like 2D Metroidvanias. I have played through it at least 5 times (you need to do it 3 times to get all the endings)

Very nice to see The Sinking City included so many times. There was so much weirdness surrounding its release that I feel like it gets swept under the rug a lot. It’s incredibly underrated in my opinion, and while not the greatest, it has interesting characters and story.

You’ve got The Secret World on there already, but worth mentioning they did a remake: Secret World Legends. Whole ton of QoL changes, combat was revamped, but otherwise the same game.

Suuuuuper niche game, but if it happens to be your niche it’ll become one of your all time favorites.

Returnal is a good one for this list as well, has everything you’d expect from a lovecraftian inspire game.
