On Veterans Day, the former president vowed to “root out” his liberal opponents, drawing backlash from historians who say his rhetoric is reminiscent of authoritarians
His rhetoric isn’t reminiscent of authoritarians. It’s specifically fascistic.
Trump crossed a line he’d been toeing for a while now…and still, the Washington Post repeats the same old tired news reporting formula: Here’s what Trump said, and here’s what some people think about it. Kk, hope you’re informed now…
I hate this.
They got the right description into the headline, which is all that ~98% of folks online ever see. That’s an improvement
and still, the Washington Post repeats the same old tired news reporting formula:
Gossiping hairdressers gonna gossip…
‘…but let’s vote for him anyways!’
I don’t understand how half of the US thinks. If they even.
A big chunk of the US favors rule by a minority white group that they see as being of the “right” kind of Chrisitian denomination, and are willing to toss democracy for fascism to get that. A lot more don’t believe how bad the situation is because the press hasn’t been running headlines like this.
It’s worth noting that a lot of these people don’t simply see him as able to bring about “the right kind” of christofascism. They buy into these worldviews, because they see a world that is (to them) changing quickly. The false dichotomies they grew up with (e.g. male and female, black and white, men work and women stay home, Yahweh vs. Satan) are crumbling, so they see a strong-man as being able to restore the glory days when things were simple.
They’re so blinded by fear and rage, they can’t see the dystopia they’re selling their freedom to buy.

The party cadres too
Well, it didn’t matter when dubya said the war is for Lebensraum either. Apparently this is fine in the US.
When did he say that?
Pretty soon, Trump can take a sabbatical. He can take some time to right a book. “My $truggles” has a certain ring to it. /$
It’s important that we make that sabbatical mandatory.
Uhh, so? It’s not like his political opponents have only ever referred to him with respect and decency.
They’ve been calling him a fascist, which is what his use of language and coup attempt reveal him to be
Logical fallacy - Whataboutism.
Yeah, please respect GrabemByThePusseh
Are you suggesting that the people he refers to as vermin should show him respect and decency? He deserves none of those things. Quit treating him like he’s some kind of deity, messiah or monarch. He gets what he gives.
