I studdenly got this question while on the shower, could it possibly mean that swear word that starts with F and ends with K?

It comes from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare where you could interact with a casket in a funeral scene by pressing F.

“Press F to pay respects” was widely ridiculed and became a meme

It’s not “you could”. The game does not progress until you press F, which turns what may have been a somewhat somber act into just a thing you’re forced to do, completely removing the little respect you may have developped for that character in the short time he existed.

I believe it’s an evolution of a reference from one of the Call of Duty games. In the game you literally press F to pay respects at one point. Pretty sure it was memed to death and then evolved from there

It’s from Advanced Warfare, where there’s a part where you “press F to pay respects”. So “F in the chat” is sort of a way to offer condolences or sympathy.

In the PC version Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare you, as the player, attend a funeral in the game. As it’s your turn to walk up to the coffin, the game prompts you to “Press F to pay respects.”

It became a meme and now people use F in place of RIP, or to “pay their respect” to something or someone that just “died”, usually in a joking manner.

Nothing. Its the acton button in call of duty i believe. In one of yhe campaigns you had to press f to show respect at a funeral.
