Marsh Owls are from southern Africa. As the name would indicate, they live in marshes or open grasslands.
They’re an ground nester like the Short Eared Owl, and its habitat is being affected by existing agriculture. They are currently not listed as endangered though, probably due to their fairly wide distribution.
Bonus original off topic content.
I found this Turkey Tail growing in the woods yesterday.
The people in [email protected] tell me this is not a mushroom, but something called a conk. I didn’t have any clue what it was, I just thought it was pretty.
I suppose now I think about it, not all fungus are mushrooms. You can tell it’s a fungus though, because of the way it is
Yup, yeast are a fungus too!

Very nice owl are these your pics?
No, thank you for pointing that out. It didn’t post the link correctly, so I updated the post.
I only have my phone camera, so generally my pictures are fairly bad quality.
Haha fair fair. I once tried to photograph an owl, and it was very difficult. I mainly ended up with photographs of blurred locations where an owl had recently been.
The important thing is you tried! 😉
Photographing the mushroom is more my speed.
