My partner and I are doing a year of trying new activities, none of our friends are organised enough to come as a big group so I thought we could go as a 2. I’m just a bit worried it’ll be full of try hard people/won’t be suitable for first timers and we won’t have fun. Does anyone have any experience?

I’ve been a few times over about 15 years or so. This was out in the woods, using gas-powered guns.

They’ve always been free sessions and they generally just allocate people on teams randomly, so there’s no promise the people you go with will be on the same team or not.

It really is just luck of the draw for the most part. Some people get stuck in, others don’t.

Don’t bother wearing loads of layers - it won’t make a difference when you get hit. You’ll be better off making sure you’re comfortable.

Plus, your mask is going to fog up, so the cooler you can stay, the less trouble you’ll have with it.

No idea of that helps, but take it for what you will!

I’ve been with three others (four of us total). It was the first time for all of us. We were initially on the same team for the first game. There was approximately 20 - 25 people total attending. It was an all day event and anyone could turn up and play.

It wasn’t intentional but we ended up demolishing the other team first game, as they were majority much younger. We were then split up, two into the other team etc.

    It was great fun!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, I suppose that’s the other way it could go, full of kids!

If my experience at laser quest is anything to go by, I won’t be the best shot so skill level will probably be equal!

I’ve been with a group of six integrated into another team. There was one bloke there with all the kit but most people were first timers or causals using the provided kit. Two tips, wear baggy clothes under your combats as they help dull the impact more, the people I went with who stupidly wore jeans had some nasty bruises and also wear some walking boots/shoes.

You get all sorts of people paintballing. You normally stick in little groups anyway so being 2 is good. There are people who are good/better but most of the time they know they’re better. Just make sure you put your hands up when you’re shot. Whoever shoots me after my hands are up gets a few choice words.
