      Think it’s Kirstie Alley.

        seems plausible

screenshot of wikipedia text "Some sources state that Butrick was homosexual.[8] Kirstie Alley, his co-star in Star Trek II, identified Butrick as being bisexual.[9]" with citation 9 saying "Alley, Kirstie (2012). Art of Men (I Prefer Mine Al Dente). Simon Schuster."

out of curiosity i found her book; it only has two sentences about him:

screenshot of text "I got married in 1983 while I was simultaneously doing a TV series and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof onstage. I’d done Star Trek II in 1981 and I was slightly crushed out on my young, bisexual costar Merritt Butrick, who became my friend. Sadly, he died of AIDS in 1989 at the young age of 29."

        … and one photo:

photograph with caption "Merrit Butrick and I goofing around on the set of my first movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan."

Thanks for the informative read. Unfortunately, since everything is wrapped in a spoiler tag, none of the links/pics show appropriately.

it renders fine for me on the web.

which client are you using? if images in spoilers don’t work, that is a bug.

I’m on Connect, guess they haven’t figured out how to keep those connections separated yet.

Shatner and Montalban were never on-set together, it’s possible this is the only time they met in person for the entire filming of the movie.

Kinda like Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element.

No, it’s actually just a quirk of the story where the main protagonist and antagonist never actually meet. They do nearly run into each other at an elevator.
