Early 20th century engineering was like the Cambrian Explosion, trying out all kinds of whacky shit until settling into the practical forms we know today.

I suspect that in 2123 they’ll say the same thing about the internet of the past 25 years.

So much awful spamming across Lemmy this morning. All from accounts made minutes ago.

Edit: Referring to the comments, not the post.

Probably. It was multiple posts of a naked guy bending over and spreading.

Still showing for me. Seen both the aforementioned bent over dude and some incomprehensible AI generated word salad spam, both from users on lemmy.blahaj.zone.

Unfortunately, I can’t see it on my Lemmy.world or Kbin account, so I can’t do anything about it. I banned a fellow like that not too long ago.

I think some people try to get the trans friendly lemmy.blahaj.zone defederated as much as possible. Those kinds of attacks are sadly a weakpoint in the fediverse.

The gore dead baby photo directly under it was worse. I reported the one I saw in a different thread and I’ve blocked the user. Don’t need to see that again.

Does it engine brake or I suppose it could use modern style brakes had they been around.

Exactly me thought. How would a full emergency break look alike? The man still wheeling inside the wheel?

I’d imagine it starts with the rider’s feet being planted firmly on the ground and ends with them exiting through the back of their pelvis.

Basically you can’t emergency brake. If you do then you get to do your best impression of a hamster going down a hill.

Honestly I think that is one of the main reasons these never caught on. But yes you can still buy one if you want. They never fully left.

One of the rare times I’ve seen a good quality image of a monowheel. Everything else is either low resolution or the subject was too far away.

Confused by the steering wheel. I wonder how/if that works.

I believe that it controlled the tilt. Notice how his seat is still upright. Modern ones don’t do that you have to turn by leaning, which is probably a better system anyway.
