There are reports of spam coming from specific users on lemmy.blahaj.zone. I stumbled across some very unpleasant NSFL content on an unrelated post. I wouldn’t reccomend it, but you could check [email protected]’s profile for an example if it hasn’t been taken down yet.

It may be worth temporarily blocking that instance until they get a handle on the situation.

Someone seems to be doing a bunch of soam attacks like this. I saw one this morning, albeit much more tame, were they just posted random words with a soyjack. I blocked the soot account, but the i can still the comments in threads.

I work with computers full time and I also assumed it was a new acronym:). Thanks for being the brave one to ask.

Been getting a lot of that type of spam from Hexbear ever since they were federated to my home instance a few months ago. Not sure if it’s ALL coming out of them but the vast majority that I’ve seen has been.

That’s more brigading than anything, which I guess still counts as spamming but is more coordinated and not by bots.
        That’s just hexbear.

Probably for the same reason we haven’t here.

I’m not sure what that reason is but if I were to venture a guess it’s that the instance isn’t necessarily an issue, just a lot of the users that like to brigade and/or start shit

I think it’s an anti lgbt attack trying to get the instance banned/defedarated. Clearly it’s working lol

It’s good to see this posted (this post, not the spam)

The images they’re using are deeply disturbing, I really didn’t need to see those. I hope it gets solved quickly.

Yeah, reported one earlier. The sexual ones while gross wouldn’t be that bad, gross but wouldn’t really bother me (though I’d prefer to not have spam at all of course), but the child gore is definitely not what I wanna see while scrolling through memes.

Just blocked the instance, I noticed it too. Poor children. Why would anyone do such a thing. Posting it in an argument of awareness is one thing, why would anyone just spam it.

How many people who individually block will go back to unblock?

I individually blocked the spam account. Didn’t come by more than one. But getting people to block and defederate seems to be the motive here.

Probably none, which is why it’s likely better for the instance to be proactive with doing it and work with the admins of the other instance in monitoring.
