It says a lot that prisons routinely say that they can’t keep certain people safe unless they put them in conditions that are literally torture…

Still, you’d think there should be no reason you could not house Trans women in a women’s prison.

Other countries don’t have private prisons that thru lobbying have contracts requiring a certain amount of prisoners a year…
And this should go without saying but:
Fucking of course they dont, turns out actually rehabilitating people works better than decades of prison time in a literal hell hole. Even when people get out of our prison system, they’re usually more likely to have no other option than crime.
We just physically and psychologically torture people for years/decades then kick them to curb with zero resources and expect them to magically be a productive citizen who can find employment
Not only that, but a lot of times when they get out, they have a record hanging over their heads for the rest of their lives that will most definitely determine what kind of jobs they can get. Sometimes even if they do get their entire act together.
Of course they did. Trans women have almost no protections out of prison. Why should we expect them to have any in prison? I am so sorry that they were tortured. Solitary is torture for anyone. Period.
