That’s terrible. His brother also recently died of a fentanyl overdose. BC really needs to sort this out, this wouldn’t have happened with a safe supply.

This is very unfortunate. I really thought his plan of challenging the status quo of safe supply was going to make a difference.

He was doing what needed to be done. The war on drugs has killed too many people and society needs to acknowledge prohibition is a terrible solution. Rest in Peace, Jerry

The article seems to indicate he died of fentanyl but was more of a cocaine user that had maybe relapsed. It sounds like he suffered the exact fate he was trying to prevent others from, which is just depressing.

I do wonder what his business strategy was to ensure the drugs he was supplying was safe, but perhaps it was too costly or not convenient enough to abide in a moment of desperation.

The strategy wasn’t to run a business, it was to get arrested, charged, then challenge the charges in court to create new case law permitting sale of safe support supply (I think), or maybe it was going to be a charter challenge, but regardless, being shut down and arrested was part of the plan.

Tragic. I remember when the story about his store first popped up. I thought his plan was risky but brave. Sad to see it end like this.
