According to the publication, Hugh joked that the reason he took on the role came down to his five children. “I slightly hate [making films], but I have lots of children and need money,” he said.
Man has a net worth of $150,000,000, he can afford to be picky about the movies he appears in.
Those net worth estimations are always complete bullshit.
Everyone hates working and wants money. He isn’t being picky he’s making a joke. A few million for a few days of work as a mostly computer generated character is an easy choice.
It the movie sucks it won’t hurt his career at all.
To be fair, I don’t even think he knows how many children he has…
It’s insane to me that you can get $150 million dollars for being in a few okay movies.
I don’t know if it’s the case for him but if you have a ridiculous luxury lifestyle 150mil can be burned through real quick.
Being wasteful with money doesn’t really change what I said though. LOL
He was huge for a good 10-15 years. And when you have money it is easy to make money passively. So he has had decent investments and a solid A list career with backends for probably 30 years now.
I’m amazed an actor’s contract allows them to speak disparagingly about a current project they are involved in.
Hugh Grant has always jokingly said he hates acting, I think anyone involved in that project will see it in context for what it is.
He was also hilarious in the roundtables for D&D, pretending to be befuddled to be in the movie.
His GQ/iconic roles interview is pretty funny as well. At one point he deadpans that he writes long lists of reasons to not do movies.
Got a link to that?
Sure. Michelle Rodriguez also seems to be a ton of fun and has a great hearty laugh.
