A health board has apologised to a bereaved family who attended a cremation for the wrong body. After the error, at the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, was discovered, the family had to attend a second cremation, WalesOnline reports.
Nicola Prygodzicz, chief executive of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, which runs the hospital, said staff had been left “utterly heartbroken” by the mistake. The organisation said it is thought there are no known family members of the other patient.
The chief executive said they “identified this mistake through our own processes.” She added: "Words cannot express how sorry we are.
