A VHS my wife had. I had to pull the VCR out of the attic to watch. It was worth it though! Solid, funny, entertaining movie with a decent message about the complexity of modern life, and the simplicity of life in the African bush. I felt like it dragged a bit toward the end. And unfortunately, the tape was a bit messed up so we missed the last couple minutes. But I’d recommend it overall. We tried finding it on a streaming service before getting the VCR, but couldn’t find it anywhere!
Is that the one with the coca cola bottle falling from the sky?
That’s the one.
Bit of a cult classic, great film. There’s a sequel too, which isn’t as good, but it’s not bad either.
Yup. Watched it way back in like the 80s I think. Probably on HBO
The last couple of minutes are profoundly good. The movie is full of slapstick humour and wacky situations, and you forget who is the main character and what his purpose is. It does slow down for a bit, but the last couple minutes are what tie the whole thing together beautifully. It is one of my favourite films, and my mother’s favourite. I hope you can find the ending somewhere (yarr, matey, if nothing else).
The last part we saw was Payne (sp?) struggling over talking about an “interesting psychological phenomena”. He had just knocked over the table a second time before the tape screwed up.
I really enjoyed the second one, more than the first. But both are fun movies to watch.
It just kept getting stranger and stranger and I couldn’t stop watching. Not really a train wreck but something better…
Tracked it down after Russell Peters talked about it. Quite decent, certainly different than the normal type of movie.
The ending iirc was >!Stan went up explain things to her, bumbles around, she laughed, they kiss.!<
I have it on DVD. Got it after seeing it on comedy central back in the 90s. Love this movie. Now I have to watch it again!
Poor little bugger
Great movie. I believe it’s on Disney+
it’s available on YouTube
