I’ve been listening to some biblical scholar shit and they talked about this. At least for the Bible this is a huge misconception the church propagated for obvious reasons. Generally the texts (the originally written ones) say as long as you’re a good person regardless of what you believe you won’t be sent to hell. Which by the way the early christians and even the apostles didn’t believe in hell, that was also added later. Different topic for a different time

I mean sure but for the people that believe they should not be spreading hate when most religions are about loving everyone. They aren’t thinking very hard about what their religion means and what a god that loves everyone really means

It’s like little children playing games. The rules are made up and you’re expected to ignore them or change them whenever convenient.

It’s the same reason that I can’t win at tag with my 4yo

The “non come to the father except through me” and the “depart from me I never knew you” verses seems to contradict this

You can take that as literal you need to believe in him or that he needs to approve of you. The second is more likely when you look at Jesus’s life as a whole when he never shunned or hated anyone for not believing afaik.

The second one he is talking to believers who used his name for “lawlessness” as he says. The whole verse should be read and not taken out of context

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

The second verse you shared is yelling at many people who use his name in vain currently and I’m sure we can think of a few lol
