While in the shower today, I realized that I’ve used Irish Spring soap for over 25 years. For two reasons. One: it’s green. Two: this commercial.

Have I even tried other soaps? No. I would feel like a traitor to Irish Spring.

Do you think I want the IRA after me?!

Mate, I think the IRA will be after you for USING the soap… especially with how bloody awful those accents in the commercial are… its like you’re spitting in their face and saying “God save the Queen!”.

Not until you pry the Yardley oatmeal soap out of my cold, dead hands.

I buy Irish Spring in the big mega packs. It’s basically a never ending supply of soap.

I believe it’s marketed as Lynx in some parts of the world if you have that. And yes, it’s awful. It’s “body spray.” It’s not for cleaning, it’s just for spraying stink on yourself.

They sell it to us gullible Americans. It’s probably made in Milwaukee or something.

These are the most offensive Irish accents I’ve ever heard. It’s like what an American thinks an Irish person sounds like.

They sound more like hobbits, who usually have British accents!

You think they could afford real Irish people? Is Irish Spring made of money?

Most bathroom accidents happen outside of a bathroom.

I’ve been using Head’n’Shoulders ever since I saw the movie Evolution as a kid, in which they kill a giant alien by pumping HnS into it. It’s some Wayne’s World level of product placement

Is it a good shampoo? I don’t know, I don’t have any comparison

I use it, but I have dandruff. I still have dandruff, but I have more dandruff if I use a different shampoo, so I guess it helps?

Catch is: Stuff smells like you’ve over bathed in a vat of deodorant.

Smelling myself, maybe I can’t tell because I’m covered in it, but my nose says I’m odorless. My wife has never said anything about the smell.

Which is why most people use it. I’m not letting big deodorant charge me for a useless add-on product. (Strokes neck beard).

Can someone confirm if they fixed the scent?

Back early 2022 they had changed the formula or whatever chemicals they use to scent the soap bars. The few times I’ve bought it since then the smell irritates my wife too much (since she’s quite sensitive to certain ones), so I stopped buying it entirely.

Oh great. I just bought a new pack and I’m guessing I haven’t had to buy a new one in a couple of years because I get the super pack with a bunch of bars. Now I’m worried I’m going to have to change soaps.

After 25 years do you still feel the urge to cut up your soap?

I’m not Irish enough to cut soap or whistle about it.

How do you use the soap bar? Do you lather directly on your body or use a loofa?

I need that greenness directly on my skin.
