I don’t mean to crash the party, I used to love Ventoy too. But then the blob issue came up and it was met with silence for over a year by the maintainer, that made me a bit uncomfortable. First you need to download the provided file from the distro page. Something with Checksum in the name most of the time. The website should provide instructions. Please note that does not validate the gpg key.
Quick Method Terminal:
Open the terminal at the location of the ISO file or go there with cd. Type sha256sum NameOfIsoFile.iso - it takes a moment depending on your system.
Copy the output (some long numbers/letters). Compare it with the downloaded checksum-file - open the file, press ctrl-f or whatever you have for find and paste it. If it’s found, it’s the same.
Method KDE: Right click the file, open properties, then go to tab “Checksums”. Paste same number/letter combination from above into the provided space “Expected checksums…” - if it’s green, it’s correct.
Du kannst prinzipiell mit jeder Distro spielen. Die zwei genannten mögen vielleicht (ich übertreibe) 2 FPS mehr rausholen und paar Tweaks vorinstalliert haben, aber das ist nicht unbedingt notwendig. Office geht auch auf jeder Distro.
Aktualität 10 ist eher von Bedeutung: da bist du klar nicht bei Debian, sondern gehst Richtung Bleeding Edge (=das Neueste vom Neuen). Das sind vornehmlich Rolling Releases (Distros wie Arch, Tumbleweed usw.), Fedora (worauf Bazzite basiert) nimmt da ungefähr einen Mittelweg ein, lehnt sich aber eher Richtung Bleeding Edge als stabil.
Somit läuft es hinaus auf: willst du eine Rolling Distro mit täglichen Updates und der “Gefahr*”, dass mal was kaputt geht, oder bleibst du dann doch eher bei Richtung stabil und wie stehst du zu Immutable/Atomic Distros (Bazzite). *Wobei diese Gefahr natürlich gut minimieren ist - Tumbleweed lässt dich auch zurückrollen, Arch sicher auch irgendwie, das wissen bestimmt andere besser als ich.
Aber was du auch nimmst, Distro gewechselt ist schnell, Home-Verzeichnis rübergespielt, paar Dinge adaptiert und fertig. Also mach dir nicht zu viel Kopf deswegen.
Signal is included as Flatpak. You have to enable “untrusted Flatpaks” (or whatever the wording is) in the Software Manager settings.
