Ask Lemmy•Those who have ever taken medications for depression or anxiety, how long before it started working **from your experience**?
1·9 hours agoThere actually are other options for treatment-resistant depression, which is defined as depression that has little or no response to standard treatments like antidepressants.
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS): uses magnetic currents to stimulate the brain while awake, typically provided 5x per week for 6 weeks (although there are now newer protocols that are much shorter in duration)
- Ketamine: a general anesthetic drug typically provided via a nose spray 1-2 times per week for 8 weeks
- Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT): uses electricity to induce a small seizure in the brain under sedation, typically provided 2-3 times per week for 3-4 weeks
I try to spread the word about these treatments when I can because TMS helped me immensely after trying just about every antidepressant out there with no luck.
We really need more stability in basically all of these objects designed for them to sit on. It’s not fair to them and their big panda butts to make them so prone to tipping over.

politics •Trump Wrecked In Devastating Poll As Most Americans Say He’s ‘Worse Than Biden’ — With Whopping 18 Point Swing
7·2 months agoI’m stupid, can someone help me understand how we calculate the 18 point swing?
Just after Trump was inaugurated last February, the result was 58 percent saying Trump was doing a better job than Biden
But in the new poll, 51 percent said Trump is doing a worse job than President Biden did — a net swing of 18 points
2025 poll 58% say Trump > Biden
2026 poll 49% say Trump > Biden (aka 100 - 51)
58-49 = 9 point swing?
Poinsettias are mildly toxic to cats. Not deadly but good to be aware of. That being said, very cute kitty!
Best weird “brand” name on an Amazon product I bought was a “Lokass” cooler. And of course the name is proudly displayed on the lid of the cooler haha.
(Hagrid voice) “You’re irrational, Harry!”
Does anyone have any recommendations for nature docs that don’t do this? Would love to watch some that don’t make me feel sad for half the episode.

Games•ARC Raiders Just Became Steam's Most Popular Extraction Shooter and It's Not Even CloseEnglish
1·6 months agoYou’re right. But it doesn’t change the fact that this article was written with AI, imo. For example: “ARC Raiders has been pieced together by Embark Studios, of The Finals fame.”
“Pieced together” is a really bizarre way to say that they created a brand new game from scratch.

115·6 months agoHoly shit this article reeks of AI. “Escape from Duckov” made their list of other extraction shooters, wow.
I’ve actually found that Target groceries are cheaper overall than the major grocery store chains, even the shittiest ones. I live in a major U.S. city so ymmv. The only big chain that beats Target’s grocery prices is Walmart. But you have to psych yourself up to shop there because it’s always a hellscape and I’m usually too tired for all that.
Aldi’s/Lidl/Trader Joe’s are also always very economical but they have a limited selection of items.

Ask Lemmy•Do you have a "GroundNews" subscription, and if so what has the experience been like? Would you recommend it?
13·9 months agoI used the free version for around a year. I would look at it daily and I felt it had a decent range of content. However, I started to notice factual errors with the summaries of the articles (which I assume are created by AI). This made me worried about all the times I didn’t notice errors and just learned incorrect information and possibly even repeated it to others. I’ve stopped using it and I’m looking for an alternative.
A whole string cheese with a piece of bread wrapped around it. Still goes crazy honestly. You just can’t let anyone else see you eating it 😂
If you made these purchases with a credit card it may be worth looking into a chargeback.
