us-east-1 was (one of?) the first region for AWS and a lot of their systems don’t respond super well if that region has issues. AWS is also the backbone of a lot of the internet

If you are happy with Debian, I’d say stay with it. I have tried many distros but I like Debian and return to it for most of my devices. Sometimes Debian will have older versions of software if you use stable, I don’t really mind personally
Especially because that fuckwad would certainly call an accurate proportion of a movie cast being not straight (something like 1 in 10) “completely dominating the media”
