techtto Games•WalkScape's (RuneScape inspired fitness MMORPG) developer here, we've now released support for smartwatches on iOS & a lot of new content, and we are accepting new players to the Closed Beta!English3·8 天前Thanks for the reply! PEBKAC issue – I was logged in with the right account, but the email I requested to join the beta from was not a google account so I had to make one for this. I forgot to change the email in my Walkscape account portal to the gmail I made. All good now!
techtto Games•WalkScape's (RuneScape inspired fitness MMORPG) developer here, we've now released support for smartwatches on iOS & a lot of new content, and we are accepting new players to the Closed Beta!English4·8 天前I was accepted into the beta, but I’m unable to find the app in the store. I joined the google group, but I’m not sure what else to check. When I follow the link it shows the app in the browser, but when I try to find it with the play store app it can’t be found. Any ideas?
techtto Mildly Infuriating•This ad that claims that windows 11 is 3 times faster than windows 10English18·10 天前Windows 11 PCs are up to 2.3x faster than Windows 10 PCs
Based on testing performed by Microsoft in December 2024 using Geekbench 6 Multi-core score comparing a selection of Windows 10 PCs with Intel Core 6th, 8th, and 10th generation processors and Windows 11 PCs with Intel Core 12th and 13th generation processors. Performance will vary significantly by device and with settings, usage and other factors.
I mean… okay? Pretty sure that has very little to do with the OS at that point. That’s kind of like saying the PS5 is faster than the PS4 – yeah, I’m upgrading hardware, of course it’s faster. Kinda surprised they only got 2.3x with that basis of comparison.
techtto Personal Finance Canada@lemmy.ca•Has anybody ever tried mowing lawns for money as an adult?6·11 天前I have a younger immediate family member who started a lawncare business, and I have a CS degree, so I think I can relate to your situation a little bit.
Needing an extension cord and being unable to edge properly without a trimmer would be deal-breakers for me as a client, to be honest, because I’d have to go behind and finish up the job myself so I might as well just do it myself. What you could do with limited equipment though is hand pruning and trimming. Look for people with overgrown flower bushes, or hedges, read up on proper care of your local flora between trimming and pest control, present yourself as a long-term solution. You could expand this to planting/mulching if clients cover cost of materials at very low investment on your end. Offer to start some kind of food-bearing plant.
My sibling got started with a very close circle of friends as clients – do you have any family members who could sponsor you and let you get your rhythm? What about family of school friends?
At the same time, you need to be working on your CS chops. Do you have a portfolio of personal projects? A simple static JS/HTML website? A degree is barely enough anymore, demonstration of practical skills will help you stand out. If you can eventually make one for lawn services, that would be pretty impressive.
But just mowing lawns for quick cash, I don’t think would be worth your time. Don’t let your family get into your head – it’s not if you can do it or not, it’s how you can and if it’s worth it, and I think you can get there. Best of luck to you!
Ah, thanks. I thought it was a Roman AR-14
“Get fucked”, “Go fuck yourself”, “Blow me”, “Eat my ass”, so many along a similar vein I never considered. Great write-up; I’ll never think about those things the same way again.
Stand down, soldier. It is not yet your time.
Holy fuck, an exception to Betteridge’s Law

Sometimes the food can do it too – I scratched my last nonstick pan with a silicone spatula because I ground black pepper on my eggs and caught a craggy piece just right while flipping. After being super careful for months! So irritated.
Sure, that’s probably true (we could quibble over “0%” and the nuances of hyperbole), but my confidence that the clearly damaged battery in front of me is completely discharged and won’t cause harm is far less than my confidence in PPE saving my eyesight. When giving information to strangers on the internet, I like to play it conservative.
I think the most important step is PPE honestly – especially when the floor chances for maim or injury is “unlikely”.
Here is a guide.
I don’t get posts like this – his expression matches nearly every other 40+ white dude minding his own business that I’ve ever seen. These pics/posts have strong “you should smile more” energy
Then you’d juat have to deal with errors from processes expecting it to be there. Probably better to instead not use software that implements it, which I assume you’re doing anyway.

This game has unexpectedly deep lore. Keep searching.
I’m curious about what the tilt would do to fan bearing wear. Probably negligible for such lightweight components
In addition to the other great answers, you can really drive the intuition about how wrong this is in students/kids with simple examples:
x+2/x+1
– cancel thex
incorrectly and this always equals 2, which should fail the smell check immediately, verify with a couple values ofx
.x+1/x
cancel thex
incorrectly andundefined
