So I can’t say if the person who said it was imagining her as someone else, or perceiving her genitals as something different from her self image. If it’s the former, I can understand the frustration, but if it’s the latter, then I don’t think one should be so close minded that they’d let their own self image of themselves get in the way of their relationship. Emotions aren’t inherently logical. It’s not so simple as “this shouldn’t make me upset, therefore I won’t be upset.” It could very well be that OOP’s partner did something like refuse to apologize because they “did nothing wrong.” Acknowledging your partner’s feelings and accommodating them is more important than being right.
