A federal judge ordered former Trump White House aide Steve Bannon to report to jail by July 1 to begin serving a four-month sentence for his contempt of Congress conviction.
The order by Judge Carl Nichols came three weeks after federal prosecutors urged him to lift a stay on Bannon’s sentence pending an appeal of his conviction.
He was found in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena from a House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot by supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Hold them accountable. You and I would be locked up in a heartbeat for some weed and these people tried to overthrow the country. Lock them the fuck up or deal with the vigilante justice later.

I agree with the spirit of your statement, but you need to find a new harmless thing to use as the example of going to jail. That USED TO BE the gold standard for that comment, but now it’s subject to location. And at this point, I think it’s something like 26 states + DC are fully legal. So over half the country that comment doesn’t work for.

But, I still agree with the overall spirit of your comment.

I’m from Texas, so I kind of forget that the rest of the country is freer than us.

Oh. Yeah. You need to leave Texas. It’s legal here in Ohio. Texas is just…I won’t say the “worst”, because Florida also exists, but…yeah. You need to leave. And this is coming from someone living in Ohio.

He’s awaiting appeal. That’s why he’s reporting to jail and not prison. It’s up to the judge to mandate jail, house arrest, electronic surveillance, or bail option. His crime was nonviolent.

This is the opposite of special treatment, and I’m all about it.
