to be fair you can subscribe/unsubscribe from communities. I often do this. If /c/news is too political, i unsub from /c/news, i can then go and find some other news community that posts interesting things that aren’t as political

similarly, /c/[email protected] is not the only technology community out there, as is obvious, so we can go and find other things :) your feed is yours! own it! don’t wait for others to fix it cuz you’ll very often be dissatisfied.

It seems like the best way is view “all” not just local, and block shit you don’t want to see as you come across.

I’ve gotten rid of most of the meme subs, formula 1, subs for languages I dont speak, or just any topic I don’t care about.

If I see something I’m interested in, I subscribe. Eventually I’ll have enough to just view subscribed, but this way I get to see what s out there

if you’re not subbed to a lot of stuff yeah but i already got to the point you mention where i have a shitton of subs and i get good curated content in my feed.

having said that i do browse All often and did in this case to find this post.

How exactly do you look for news which aren’t political, when news are inherently political? That’s like eating sugarless sugar.

ah yes “Dogs found to carry a gene that lets them bark in ultrasonic waves that mice cannot hear” (fake news title), omg so political. That’s the kind of shit I want sometimes. I don’t know how you came up to the idea that all news is about what political parties and the ruling class are doing in their day to day lives :) I do love some news about how putin is screwing up something, but I also want news about new cool apps, new developments in technology or AI, new cool stuff found around the world, new opportunities and things in this cool world. Sometimes, just sometimes, I don’t wanna hear about what insults Trump is hurling at Biden and viceversa.

You are aware that “political” doesn’t mean “related to elections”, right? Choosing to eat a snack in the sidewalk is a political statement, as it is a public choice made in the polis (city)

OK then my showers are political and my water drinking and air breathing habits are political. I am, for obvious reasons, not using those measures when I talk about apolitical news.
