Apparently, it’s been a year since the “Great Migration” and my intrepid decision to give the Lemmy fediverse a go. Since dabbing my toes into what has since become a creative outlet and hobby for me, I’ve found a fair few friends and like-minded enthusiasts for our favored franchise. Thank you all for still putting up with and encouraging my silly nonsense! May we all carry on until we greet the Koala (or get crammed into the pattern buffer), having OD’d on Ketracel-white next to Rom and an over-caffeinated Janeway!

Eulogy comprised of a rousing “Faith of the Heart” rendition by Kevin Riley.

Back atcha from a much less prevalent (on lemmy) sci-fi fandom.

    Context

Context for the image requires spoilers from The Witch From Mercury, the latest entry in the long-running Gundam franchise.

    Also, nested spoilers work. Neat.

    Actual spoiler

The prologue ends with a 4-year old joyfully singing along to happy birthday with her father, while said father sacrifices himself to allow his wife and child to escape the politico-corporate slaughter of a research lab. This is reprised later in the show when a 17-year old sings happy birthday to a friend over the PA, not knowing that the friend was getting incinerated elsewhere because his usefulness as a clone pilot had ended.

    Proselytizing

Any Trekkie who isn’t all-in on the ANIME BAD bandwagon, I implore you to give Gundam a try. There are a variety of starting points (as with Trek) and I’ll be more than happy to field any questions.

I love Gundam, but not for the right reasons.

      Terrible reason

Lumberjack Gundam Canada’s fight against Desperado Gundam Mecixo.

I know everything about it is wrong, but it’s both awesome and hilarious. I’m so sorry.
