It was a bit slow until the last few episodes but I think this was a pretty good show. I wouldn’t mind a season 2. Nina is so annoying, but in a good way lel

I read that GBC is supposed to be a long term project, unlike Jellyfish.

It’s too bad the music and writing aren’t better.

Right at that moment when they’re at the temple discussing whether to take DD’s offer, I was thinking of Paripi Koumei’s “borrow the enemy’s arrows” strategy, and they should play before a larger audience to get more exposure, and have a chance of winning over a few of DD’s fans. I mean, people listen to music from different acts in their song rotation all the time, right?

I’m surprised no band members or their agent brought up that argument.

Speaking of rivalries, at this point, I haven’t watched most of Jellyfish, so I’m not sure how the 2 shows compare. I hear it’s good.

If GBC is going to continue then I have hope that it could get better. FWIW I still think this was a pretty good show. It didn’t hit the “it could have been so good” point which is arguably worse than a bad story, so I did enjoy it quite a bit, and I certainly think the writers are capable of making something good out of this considering how much it improved towards the end.

I definitely like Jellyfish more though. I think the writing was way better and although it was a bit slow, stuff still happens so the slow pacing wasn’t a bad thing.

they should play before a larger audience to get more exposure

I think the strategy works for Paripi Koumei but it just doesn’t work narratively here because the goal is different. I think opting for a smaller audience was the right call for togetoge. And I may be misunderstanding/misremembering but didn’t they mention that the exposure from DD could help them? In this case I’d argue it would actually harm them because the rivalry was already public.

The cynical view is PT Barnum’s “There’s no such thing as bad publicity”, or more appropriately in this case Oscar Wilde’s “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”

I understand Momoka, and therefore Nina’s strong motivation to succeed on their own musical merits and not be pop sellouts though.
