I disagree with the method (and the future fallout of trust in medicine from the method), but didn’t that lead to the discovery of where Bin Laden was which ultimate lead to him being put down? In that regard it was successful.
We are in full agreement that this was a bad idea from the start and it resulted in fallout from this was incredibly damaging to public health and trust in vaccine initiatives.

There are no sources that I’ve found that say that the CIA’s sham healthcare operation was critical in finding bin Laden.
The CIA was tipped off to bin Laden’s location by tracking his personal courier to his compound in Abbottabad. The vaccination ruse was an attempt to confirm that he was in the area, but never produced results (other than a 2/5 drop in childhood vaccinations in Pakistan the years following, of course)
