I don’t know how accurate the article in this post is, but:

The Community movie, officially ordered by Peacock in September 2022, will reunite Brown with co-stars Joel McHale (Jeff), Gillian Jacobs (Britta), Alison Brie (Annie), Donald Glover (Troy), Danny Pudi (Abed) and Jim Rash (Dean Pelton)

The only one I don’t see is Chevy Chase, which should surprise nobody.

The drama between Chevy and essentially the entire show is just… absolutely nuts.

The guy could have just cashed his checks. But he wanted to feel power this year.

And now he’s going to feel Dan Harmon’s power as it surges downward, straight down through Chevy, from nostril to rectum, now through the end of time.

      That’s what’s up.

Very unpopular opinion, but a hill I will die on.

The quality of Community dropped considerably when Pierce wasn’t a part of the main cast. His criticisms of the writing were often on the money, as the payoff he’d often get from being the father figure to Jeff (e.g. the barber episode) or the unsuspecting hero (Paintball) were some of the best. When he was allowed to be human he was great, when he was a pure asshole it was lazy.

Yes, Chevy Chase is a monumental cunt…but that was close to a decade ago now. The “young” Annie is played by a woman in her forties with a 20+ year career in acting, and the entire cast is essentially a who’s who of Hollywood and TV elite right now. Everyone has moved on, and Chase did an interview years ago stating that he’d learned from his isolation and wanted one more shot at work. He did some stuff for Netflix that went well, so he’s not completely out of Hollywood. Let’s not forget that Harmon was fired because he was a cunt too - a cunt that showed up Chase in front of his family, alongside abusing a writer that didn’t want to have sex with him while he was a man in a committed relationship. He gets a pass because of his writing abilities, so why shouldn’t Chase get another chance?

IMO Harmon should reach out and ask Chase to be in the movie. Have him sign a deal to say that he’ll get nothing if he’s abusive or racist on set, and let him end his career on a high. Having Pierce alive would almost certainly be a plot for a movie in itself.

Yeah, I can’t speak to the behind-the-scenes drama, but I agree that Pierce was at his best in Season One, where he was a little bit grandiose and a little bit of a jerk but still had moments of wisdom and humanity. I always liked the talk he gave Jeff in the boating episode.

Turning him into a total buffoon villain from season 2 onwards was a change for the worse.

You are 100% right. The quality dropped without him. He was a good antagonist.

I know he’s apparently a piece of shit to work with, but that doesn’t change the fact that the stories were better with him.

I made a comment years ago about the plot of the movie being Troy going on a treasure hunt and sending back to the group for help only for the gang to get there and find that the treasure was Pierce and he had played them all to show how much he would be missed.

Cant remember he beats to it now tbh but I put a bit of time into making it make sense.

I’ve never heard of a TV or film series where people didn’t hate Chevy by the end.
