"“The filing is deficient for the following reason(s): the PDF attached to the docket entry for the pleading is not correct; the wrong event type was used to file the pleading; Court’s leave has not been granted; the order granting permission to file the pleading was not attached,” the bolded docket entry reads.

The court went on to explain how to properly file the request the next time around. Most of the advice — and the mistakes the advice is meant to address — concerns basic filing errors. But the court also advised Trump’s team they needed to refile with the government’s consent or leave of court — and dinged the lawyers for not having leave of court, which means the court’s consent, in the first place."

They might be doing this on purpose. They know that the filing is not going to work regardless, they are only doing it because Trump wants them to. So why put in all the effort to make it perfect? Especially when they know it is unlikely they are ever getting paid.

Plus, this gives Trump an opportunity to say “I lost on a technicality”, implying he might have won otherwise.

because pissing off the judge with a filing you’re not even allowed to file is a great way to lose future decisions too. The absolute most basic part of their job is to advise their client on proper court procedures- and to comply with them. If they can’t even do that much… they’re totally incompetent.

I don’t think money is necessarily the problem as such, so much as having to take on Trump as a client. Nobody in their right mind wants to have him as their client, because they know he can’t keep his mouth shut, has idiotic demands, and is also in the habit of not paying people who work for him.

Well, all that plus he’s a piece of shit fascist cult leader.

… and is also in the habit of not paying.

Everything leading up to that, just means there’s a bigger bill attached. any one whose competent at this point is going to be demanding payment up front.

Oh he can afford better, no doubt about that. His legal counsel is constantly deficient for one simple reason. The entire pool of lawyers available to him are idiots. That’s because the ones who are not idiots have noticed that he never pays his lawyers after the fact so they want payment up front. Since he refuses to do that, he only has the idiots to chose from.
